The much-anticipated Skoda Elroq is gearing up for its India debut, with reports suggesting a launch timeline around mid-2026. As part of Skoda Auto global electric mobility push, the Elroq will be positioned as a compact electric SUV, targeting the fast-growing EV segment in the country.
First unveiled globally in late 2024, the Skoda Elroq showcases the brand’s new “Modern Solid” design philosophy. It was also displayed at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, hinting at its eventual entry into the Indian market. With a length of approximately 4.49 meters, the SUV sits between compact and mid-size categories, offering a strong road presence similar to the Skoda Kodiaq but in a more urban-friendly package.
In terms of pricing, the Skoda Elroq is expected to be priced between ₹25 lakh and ₹50 lakh (ex-showroom). This wide price bracket will depend on the variant and battery configuration offered. The model will directly compete with popular electric SUVs such as the MG ZS EV and the upcoming Hyundai Creta Electric.
Globally, the Elroq is offered with multiple battery pack options, including 52 kWh, 59 kWh, and a larger 77 kWh unit. The top-spec version is capable of delivering a driving range of over 580 km (WLTP), making it a strong contender for long-distance travel. Performance-wise, the SUV can produce up to 210 kW (around 281 bhp), with both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations expected.
Inside, the Skoda Elroq promises a premium cabin experience with a minimalist layout. A large 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system takes center stage, complemented by digital instrumentation and connected car technology.
New features expected in the Skoda Elroq include advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), over-the-air (OTA) software updates, a head-up display, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, fast-charging capability, and enhanced safety technologies for improved driving experience.
As for its India strategy, Skoda is expected to introduce the Elroq initially as a Completely Built Unit (CBU), which may result in higher pricing. However, depending on demand and market response, local assembly could be considered in the future to make it more competitive.
The Indian EV market is witnessing rapid growth, and the arrival of the Skoda Elroq will further intensify competition in the premium electric SUV segment. With its European styling, strong performance figures, and impressive range, the Elroq has the potential to attract buyers looking for a premium electric alternative.
Overall, the Skoda Elroq could play a crucial role in strengthening Skoda’s presence in India’s evolving electric vehicle landscape when it arrives in 2026.
