Triumph motorcycles, a British motorcycle manufacturer, is getting ready to roll out new models to broaden its range of mid-capacity motorcycles in India. Triumph intends to release a lineup of 350cc motorcycles by April 2026, according to Rajiv Bajaj, MD and CEO of Bajaj Auto.
The new 350cc models will be cheaper than the existing Triumph models at 400cc and will be taxed differently than those at 400cc. This strategy could help Triumph compete more aggressively in the fastest growing category of motorcycles (350cc) in India.
Bajaj Confirms Launch Timeline
During the interview, Rajiv Bajaj confirmed that the downsized Triumph motorcycles will arrive in the market by April 2026. The new bikes are part of the ongoing partnership between Bajaj Auto and Triumph Motorcycles, which previously led to the launch of the 400cc Triumph lineup in India.
The collaboration has already been successful with models like the Triumph Scrambler 400 X and other entry-level premium bikes gaining attention among Indian riders. With the introduction of the 350cc range, the companies aim to target an even larger customer base.
Lower Tax Bracket Could Reduce Prices
One of the biggest reasons behind the development of the new 350cc models is the Indian taxation structure for motorcycles. Currently, motorcycles above 350cc fall under a higher GST bracket, which increases their overall price.
Motorcycles with engines below 350cc attract around 18 percent GST, which allows manufacturers to price them more competitively. By slightly reducing the engine displacement from 399cc to under 350cc, Triumph can offer a more affordable motorcycle without drastically changing the platform.
This strategy could significantly improve the brand’s competitiveness against established players in the segment.
Engine Platform and Performance Expectations
The upcoming Triumph motorcycles are not expected to feature a completely new engine. Instead, the bikes will likely use a downsized version of the existing 399cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine currently used in the brand’s entry-level models. For reference, the current 399cc engine produces around 40hp of power and 37.5Nm of torque. With the reduction in displacement, the upcoming 350cc engine may deliver around 3–5hp less power, although exact specifications are yet to be revealed.
Despite the slight drop in performance, the motorcycles are still expected to provide strong performance, smooth refinement, and modern features, maintaining Triumph’s premium appeal.
Competition in the 350cc Segment
The upcoming Triumph motorcycles will enter one of the most competitive segments in the Indian motorcycle market. Their primary rival will likely be the highly popular Royal Enfield Classic 350 along with several other 350cc motorcycles. With a combination of premium design, international brand value, and competitive pricing, the new Triumph 350cc range could become a strong contender in the segment once launched.
If the launch timeline remains on track, motorcycle enthusiasts in India can expect the official debut of the Triumph 350cc bikes around April 2026, potentially reshaping the entry-level premium motorcycle market.
