Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to enter India’s rapidly expanding electric vehicle market with the launch of its first all-electric SUV, the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara. Expected to arrive in early 2026, the e Vitara will be positioned as a premium midsize electric SUV and will be sold exclusively through the company’s Nexa dealership network. The electric SUV is likely to be priced between ₹17 lakh and ₹22.50 lakh (ex-showroom), placing it firmly in the competitive premium EV segment.
Built on Maruti Suzuki’s new Heartect-e born-electric platform, the e Vitara has been developed specifically as an EV rather than an adaptation of an existing ICE model. The SUV will be offered with two battery pack options – 49 kWh and 61.1 kWh. The larger battery is claimed to deliver an ARAI-certified range of up to 543 km, making it one of the longest-range electric SUVs expected in its class at launch.
In terms of performance, the top-spec 61.1 kWh variant will feature a front-wheel-drive setup paired with a 174 hp electric motor. Drivers will have access to three drive modes – Eco, Normal, and Sport, allowing the vehicle to balance efficiency and performance depending on driving conditions. The e Vitara also offers SUV-appropriate proportions, including 18-inch alloy wheels and 185 mm of ground clearance, catering to Indian road conditions.
Inside, the e Vitara is expected to deliver a tech-forward cabin experience. Highlights include a dual-screen layout, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 360-degree camera, and Level-2 ADAS features. Safety is a major focus, with the SUV reportedly achieving a 5-star rating under the BNCAP, scoring an impressive 31.49 out of 32 for adult occupant protection. Standard safety equipment will include seven airbags and advanced electronic safety systems.
The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara will be available in Delta, Zeta, and Alpha variants and will be manufactured at the company’s Gujarat facility for both domestic sales and exports. Upon launch, it will take on upcoming rivals such as the Hyundai Creta EV and Tata Curvv EV, marking a significant step in Maruti Suzuki’s electric mobility journey.
